Unhappy

If your Super-8 camera is making loud, thirsty/squeaky noises, your Super-8 camera needs lubrication.

Don't try and do this yourself!

If you don't have the camera's motor or motors lubricated by a qualified Super-8 Repair Technician, you are most likely severely damaging the motor on your Super-8 Camera.

Are there any qualified Super 8 technicians left in the world? My camera luckily runs like a charm, and sounds fine, but I dread the day when something goes wrong! If it were a 10.00 Kodak Brownie, I wouldn't care, but it would cost a lot to replace my super 8. Mike

Beaulieu is still in business making parts and their cameras are the only ones out there where service/repair is really doable. Everything else is on its own. There are still enough working cameras out there that the best option is to just buy another.

Sometimes the market prices for a product create confusion when it comes to determining if the camera should be repaired or junked.

Super-8 cameras sell for between 1/10 to 1/2 of what they sold for when new. (except for the Canon 814xls & 1014xls, and perhaps some nizo cameras, which have maintained their sale price value!)

Because of common consumer repair practices, many users of Super-8 think they should never spend more to fix a camera then what they bought it for!

At some point, this becomes an illogcial approach. For Super-8 to continue on a solid path, repair personnel need to be kept in business, and simply using Super-8 cameras until they break, then throwing them away is not a positive approach for Super-8 as a whole.

Everytime we misuse a camera, or throw it away because we can get another one cheapley, we hurt the future of Super-8 for a mere quick fix in the present.

U.T. Photo in Burbank, CA primarily repairs Canon Super-8 Cameras. They also sell reconditioned Super-8 cameras that come with 90 day warranties.

Super-8 Booster. How right you are. Ron at U.T. Photo told me there are 75 solder points that have to be unsoldered than resoldered to lubricate the camera.
